[. . . ] If the camera will not power-up and nothing appears on the Status LCD panel, the batteries may be inserted in wrong orientation. Batteries must be installed and in good condition to retain images in the cameras memory. Therefore, always download your images as soon as possible to safeguard against loss. Remove the batteries if you do not expect to use the camera for two-weeks or more. [. . . ] Camera Display Icons - Self-Timer icon: To capture an image after 10 seconds. Video icon: Streaming video (movie) mode. Burst icon: To capture a sequence (burst) of 3 images. Delete-All icon: Erases all images from camera memory. Delete-Last icon: Deletes the last image from camera memory. Battery icon: Indicates battery condition as Full or Low. Flash icon: Indicates flash mode. High resolution: Camera is set to 640 x 480 pixels Low resolution: Camera is set to 320 x 240 pixels 13 ViviCam 25 Owner's Manual Rev 1 6. Using your ViviCam 25 The ViviCam 25 has two modes ­ capture and stand-by. In standby mode the battery is inserted, but the LCD is off and the camera is conserving power. To activate capture mode, press the Mode button once to power on the unit. to turn off the camera, placing it in standby mode. Press the shutter button c. If you press the Mode button twice, the camera displays `So' meaning "Strobe off" indicating that the flash (strobe) is turned off. If you press the Shutter button while "So" is displayed you will notice the `Flash' icon blinks, indicating that the flash is charging. When the flash icon stops blinking the charging process is completed and you may capture an image using the flash. 14 ViviCam 25 Owner's Manual Rev 1 "So" means "Strobe off" and the flash is off. When the flash icon is blinking, the flash is charging. To turn off the flash press the Mode button twice until you see `SL'. "SL" means "Strobe Lamp" is on. Note that the flash will always be off when the camera is powered up from the standby mode or when new batteries are inserted. Press the shutter button and the camera will capture an image after 10 seconds. Thumbnail images will appear in the twelve cells in the GUI. Click `SELECT ALL' icon. Note: You may need to click this icon once for each page of thumbnails if there are more than twelve images in camera memory. 23 ViviCam 25 Owner's Manual Rev 1 Click `SAVE TO DISK' icon to save all selected thumbnails. The file format for still-images is JPG. Click `Exit' icon to exit the driver interface. 24 ViviCam 25 Owner's Manual Rev 1 9. Downloading an AVI video clip to your PC Capture an AVI video with the camera. Double click the ViviCam 25 shortcut to open the ViviCam 25 Graphical User Interface (GUI). Click the `DOWNLOAD' icon. A movie clip is indicated with "AVI" in the upper right-hand corner of the thumbnail, as shown. 25 ViviCam 25 Owner's Manual Rev 1 Click `SAVE TO DISK' icon to save the video clip. You can specify a file name prefix for your images and you may select a folder to store your images. Click on `Save' to save the AVI video clip. To change the video frame rate, change the value in the AVI frame rate box. A higher value results in faster playback, while a small value results in slower playback. A new window will open during the process as the video is processed. It takes up to two minutes to create a twenty second AVI video at High resolution. 26 ViviCam 25 Owner's Manual Rev 1 Finally, click the `OK' icon to exit. To playback your video clip, locate the AVI file and Double click on it to play the video file using Windows Media player. Note: You may need to have DirectX 8. 1 installed on your PC to play the video file. The DirectX update available from the Microsoft website. 27 ViviCam 25 Owner's Manual Rev 1 PC camera mode Connect the camera to your PC using the USB cord. You can click on any thumbnail image to enlarge it. 36 ViviCam 25 Owner's Manual Rev 1 If there are more than twelve images in the camera there will be more than one page of thumbnails. You may selectively pick and choose some of the thumbnails for download, or you may click on the button `Select all photos in this page' to select every image. 7. Click on the `TRANSFER TO AP.
