[. . . ] Press the OK button. 32 NAVIGATION Address book (see also chapter Address book) If the desired destination address is already in the address book, or happens to be one of the last 20 destinations entered, the address can easily be used as a destination address: u In the "Navigation" menu select the function "Address book", press the OK button. u Select "Retrieve address", press the OK button. u Select the address book category, or the destination memory containing the last 20 destinations by means of "Prev. Press the OK button. Choose "Quit" from the list or press the left cursor button to leave the list display without selecting one of the list entries. If maps from different providers are used it may be necessary to adapt the stored addresses. Destination map The destination map can be used to enter a destination by means of: Cursor Co-ordinates Cursor If the destination is not in the vicinity of the vehicle location, first enter the destination as accurately as possible using the keypad (see Direct address input). u In the "Navigation" menu select the option "Destination map", or u press a cursor button if the map is already being displayed. The cursor marks the current vehicle location if no destination data has been entered. u Use the cursor buttons to move the cursor. u Press the OK button, select "Store", and press the OK button again, so that the system accepts the position as a destination. t First select a large scale for an approximate destination definition. Then choose a smaller scale to mark the destination accurately with the cursor. Destinations which are not in the digitised map area can also be selected. Ensure that correct side of the road is selected when targeting a destination on motorways. 33 NAVIGATION Co-ordinates u Select "Destination map" under "Navigation". Press the OK button. u Select "Co-ordinates", and press the OK button. u Select "Longitude" or "Latitude", press the OK button. u Define each digit with the cursor buttons on the remote control and confirm with OK. Should you wish to skip a digit, press the OK button. u Select "Set co-ordinates", press the OK button. u To start navigation press the OK button, select "Return", select "Guidance" and press the OK button again. Via points (intermediate destinations) Should you wish to drive to other locations on your way to your destination, these can be entered as via points. The navigation system then plans the route to include the via points according to their order of entry before the destination address is reached. Once a via point has been passed it is automatically deleted from the list. A maximum of 25 via points can be stored. u In the "Navigation" menu select the function "Via points". You can enter the via points in the same way as destination addresses (see above sections). If a via point is active, all route information such as distance or travel time relates to that via point. 34 NAVIGATION Storing a via point u Select "Store via point" and press the OK button. Deleting via points u Select "Delete via point" and press the OK button. A list of the stored via points appears. u Select the via point to be deleted and press the OK button. A popup menu with the entry appears. u Select "Delete" and press the OK button, if you wish to delete the displayed via point from memory. u Select "Quit" and press the OK button, if you do not wish to delete it. [. . . ] Screen switches off under excessive temperature. After the ignition has been switched off, the last menu remains visible on the screen. System does not react to actuation of the buttons if remote control is not in its holder. System reacts very slowly to inputs, or takes a long time to respond "Guidance" cannot be selected in "Navigation" menu Batteries are empty: Replace the batteries in the remote control, or install the remote control in its holder. You are located in an extremely densely digitised area. The system requires more time to read large data quantities. Ensure that you have entered a destination address. 64 TROUBLESHOOTING Symptoms System fails to plan route despite destination address being entered. [. . . ]
