SMS service centre
The phone number for the SMS service centre must be set via the mobile phone settings.
Writing and sending SMS messages
1. In the Start display, select the symbol The "Messages" menu appears. .

Text can now be entered via the remote control with the aid of the keyboard displayed. The number of characters that can still be entered is shown at the top right (in the illustration: 160). When the symbol is selected, the screen is changed to other available characters (1. If an incorrect entry is made, it is possible to delete the last character by selecting the symbol . In Write mode, by pressing the + button it is possible to enter a space. By pressing the - button it is possible to delete the preceding character. Enter the required call number in the following display "Message send". 1 To use this function, the mobile phone must be prepared for sending short messages.

OPERATION
1 Incoming SMS messages are stored either on the SIM card, or in the internal memory of the mobile phone (depending on the device). They thus remain stored after the system has been switched off and can e. g. The hands-free unit can handle up to 99 SMS messages.
Reading SMS messages
1 New incoming messages are displayed on the monitor. The message is displayed immediately after confirming the question "Read?" with OK. The SMS messages are read from the SIM card; during this time, "Opening . . . " is displayed on the screen. The message text as well as the caller's number, the date and time at which the SMS message was sent are displayed on the screen under "Message details".
SMS options
If the OK key is pressed while an SMS is being displayed, the "Options" menu appears with the following selection possibilities: "Erase" The displayed message is erased "Reply" The call number of the incoming message is accepted. The display for writing a message appears "Use number" The displayed call number can be supplemented with the name and can be stored in the phone book or dialled. "Forward" The message is forwarded to a call number to be entered

Phone Book
Call numbers are stored together with a name (text) on the SIM card of the mobile phone. As with the mobile telephone, · the entries can be viewed · the associated call numbers can be found using the name · existing entries can be edited · entries in the phone book can be deleted · new entries can be added.
Phone book menu
All functions for the phone book can be called up from the phone book menu ("Phone book menu"). Call up the main menu (press MENU button once in the Start display, otherwise twice). The "Phone book menu" appears.

Phone book search
By entering the first characters of a phone book entry, it is possible to quickly find the relevant entry and dial the associated call number. See "Search for known entry" on page 17.

After selecting the "List" option, the list of names stored in the phone book is displayed.
