Receiver Processor Unit Installation
The TA-12 RPU can be mounted at any attitude. Dimensions of the RPU are shown in Figure 2-2.

The RPU may be installed in any area that provides two inch clearance around the RPU. C, June 1999

The adapter plate may be installed in the location previously occupied by an ARINC-743 Alternate Form Factor Receiver. The hex nuts supplied with the mounting hardware kit may then be used to attach the RPU to the adapter plate.
2. 3. 4. 3 Placard Use
No additional placards are required as a result of installing the TA-12 RPU.
2. 3. 4. 4 Harness and Cable Fabrication
The installing agency must supply and fabricate all external connectors and cables. The length and routing of external cables must be carefully studied and planned before attempting installation of the equipment. Avoid sharp bends or routing the cables too close to aircraft control cables and power sources. When necessary to cross power cables, use extra braided shielding and cross at a right angle. In addition to the standard aircraft tools, the following special tools are required: A. Daniels Pin Crimper P/N M22520/2-01 or equivalent able to crimp 16 AWG and 20 AWG wire. RG-393 Crimp Tool Amp P/N 22015-1 or equivalent (only if RG-393 is used).
B. RPU External Wiring Requirements
Connector Grounding Lug Wiring Description Wire should be MIL-W-16878E/4 or equivalent. The Grounding lug shall be connected to aircraft ground through a 20-gauge wire attached to the lug with the lug ring supplied (Trimble P/N 12431). Wire should be MIL-W-16878E/4 or equivalent; the power connections require 20- or 22-gauge twisted shielded pairs. The serial communication, ARINC port connections require 22- or 24-gauge twisted shielded pairs. All other input and output connections require 22 or 24 gauge shielded cable. Wire should be MIL-W-16878E/4 or equivalent; the keyfill connections require 22- or 24-gauge wires.
