To change the display output to the external display, press the Fn+F7 keys. Be sure to close all open applications before changing a performance mode. During the switching process, your computer screen becomes dark and may temporarily show some noise or flicker. To cancel the switching process, set the performance selector switch back to its original position. STAMINA mode Uses the Intel Graphics Media Accelerator and disables some hardware devices on your computer to conserve battery power. SPEED mode Uses the NVIDIA video controller to provide faster performance. Customizing Your VAIO Computer > Selecting Performance Modes n 117 N !The HDMI output port on your computer and the DVI-D port on the docking station are functional only while the computer is in SPEED mode. You can find the current performance mode by the indicator lights on either side of the performance selector switch. Customizing Your VAIO Computer > Setting the Password n 118 N Setting the Password In addition to the Windows password, you can use BIOS functions to set two types of passwords to protect your computer: the power-on password and the hard disk password. The hard disk password is not available on models with two built-in solid state drives in RAID configuration. See the specifications to find out about configuration of your computer. Once you have set the power-on password, you will be prompted to enter the password after the VAIO logo appears to start your computer. The power-on password allows you to protect your computer from unauthorized access. The hard disk password provides additional security for the data stored on your built-in storage device. If you set the hard disk password, other users will not be able to access the data without knowing the password, even if the password-protected built-in storage device is removed from your computer and is installed in another computer. [. . . ] See Selecting Performance Modes (page 116) for mode selection. What should I do if an error message appears when I disconnect my computer from the docking station? When any device inserted or connected to the docking station is in use, you cannot disconnect your computer from the docking station. Save unsaved data, exit applications that are using such devices, and then try again. If the above does not work, shut down your computer and disconnect it from the docking station.
