WARNING Do not expose the batteries (battery pack or batteries installed) to excessive heat such as sunshine, fire or the like for a long time. RATED CURRENT CONSUMPTION: 800 mA Disposal of waste batteries (applicable in the European Union and other European countries with separate collection systems) This symbol on the battery or on the packaging indicates that the battery provided with this product shall not be treated as household waste. On certain batteries this symbol might be used in combination with a chemical symbol. [. . . ] ON: Recording starts when the IC recorder detects sound and pauses when no sound is heard, eliminating recording during soundless periods. When set to "ON, " the IC recorder enters the recording pause mode when no sound is detected for more than 2 seconds, and the IC recorder starts recording again as a new file when any sound is detected. OFF*: The synchronized recording function is canceled. Sets the noise cut level to use when the IC recorder play a file back which is recorded with noise cut function (page 62). Select when you cannot catch the sound easily by setting "Noise Cut Level" to "Maximum. " A low-level portion of a recorded file can be amplified, allowing you to hear even low/small voices more easily. OFF*: Disables the digital voice up function. Custom: You can design your own custom sound level for 5 bands of EQ (0. 4 kHz, 1. 0 kHz, 2. 5 kHz, 6. 3 kHz and 16 kHz) in 7 steps (­3 to +3) and CLEAR BASS in 4 steps (0 to +3). OFF*: The effect function does not work. See page 66 P Note When playing back files using the built-in speaker or when the NOISE CUT switch is set to "ON" (page 62), the effect function does not work. ON: You can go forward for about 10 seconds by pressing > on the control button and go back for about 3 seconds by pressing . This function is useful when attempting to locate desired point in a long recording. 60 96 GB Tabs (Playback) Menu items Play Mode Settings (*: Initial setting) Sets the playback mode. ALL: All the files are played back repeatedly. See page 68 Alarm Sets the alarm. To set the alarm, select "New" and set the date, time or day of the week or choose daily for playback, and set the following alarm pattern. Beep&Play: The selected file is played back after the alarm sounds. List: A list of the file numbers, date, or the days of the week in which the alarm has already been set will be displayed. Cancel: You can cancel the alarm setting on the selected date or on a day of the week. 70 About the Menu Function 97 GB Tabs (Playback) Menu items AVLS Settings (*: Initial setting) Sets the AVLS (Automatic Volume Limiter System) function. ON*: The AVLS function that maintains a moderate volume level is effective when listening with a pair of headphones. OFF: The AVLS function does not work and the sound is played back at the original volume. When you set the function to "OFF, " the "Advise to not listen at high VOL for long periods" animation is displayed with a beeping sound. Press x STOP to return to the menu mode display. See page 13 P Notes · When you turn off the function, please be careful not to listen at an excessive volume. · When you listen to the sound using a pair of headphones for the specified period of time, the AVLS function is automatically turned on even if you set "AVLS" to "OFF" in the menu. · If you adjust the volume to a level that exceeds the AVLS-specified level, the volume will be set to a moderate volume level when you turn off the IC recorder.
