Advanced recording Face Detection
Face Detection detects and recognises face-like shapes and adjusts focus, colour, and exposure automatically. Also, it adjusts recording conditions so that they are optimised for the face detected.
Select the recording ( button. page 26 ) mode by pressing the [MODE]
Examples of the Face detection mode
When you set Face detection to On, the face detection frame appears around faces as shown in the figure below. The camcorder can detect up to three faces.

Press the [MENU] button [Control (Left/Right)] button Face Detection. Select the desired submenu item with the [Control (Up/Down)] button, and then press the [Control (OK)] button.

• The Face Detection indicator ( ) and Face Detection frame ( ) are not recorded. • Face Detection may not operate depending on the recording conditions. For example, the Face Detection frame may appear on a 'face-like' shape, even when the subject is not a person's face. • The Face Detection frame will not work on the side of a person's face or if the illumination is too low. You must be facing subjects ‘head-on’ and have enough illumination. page 27

Advanced recording EV (Exposure Value)
The camcorder usually adjusts the exposure automatically. You can also manually adjust the exposure to your preference.

Understanding EV (Exposure Value)
Exposure value is the total amount of light allowed to fall on the photographic media (Image sensor) during the process of taking photos or videos. For example, + 0. 3 lets in more light than -0. 3.

MPEG-4 AVC/H. 264
MPEG-4 AVC/H. 264 defines the latest video coding format standardised by the ISOIEC and the ITU-T, in 2003. Compared with the conventional MPEG-2 format, MPEG-4 AVC/H. 264 has more than twice the efficiency. Your camcorder employs MPEG-4 AVC/H. 264 to encode high definition videos.
Composition
Composition in photography means arranging objects in a photo. Usually, abiding by the rule of thirds leads to a good composition.
