Do not use electric extension leads that are not authorized by the manufacturer, as they may cause damage or fire. If it is necessary to replace the power supply cable, please refer to the nearest Polti authorised service centre, since the use of a special tool is necessary. Never touch the appliance with wet hands or feet with the cable plugged into the mains. I M P O R TA N T Before leaving our factory all our products are rigorously tested. Your Vaporetto may contain some residual water in the boiler from the factory testing. P R E PA R AT I O N F O R U S E · Unscrew the safety cap (A) (Fig. 1) and fill the boiler with 1, 6 litres of water, using the jug (10) and the funnel (9) provided for this purpose (Fig. 2). The cap is provided with a safety device: to open it, push down and turn. · Screw the cap (A) back in, making sure that it correctly tightened as far as it will go. · Open the door of the one-piece socket (E); insert the moulded plug (3) until a click is heard (Fig. 3). To release the sheath, simply press the release keys (E1) and at the same time remove the moulded plug (3). A C C E S S O R I E S C O M PA R T M E N T ( H ) The smaller accessories are stored in the compartment (H). To access it, activate the lever (G) while lifting the upper part of the device (fig. 4). · Wait for the pressure indicator lamp (D) to light up (about 10 minutes). · The steam sprayer (2) has a safety button (2A) that prevents accidental activation of the steam delivery system by a child or other persons unaware of how the device works. To resume delivery press the button (2A) in the opposite direction and operate the steam control lever (4). The first jet of steam may contain some water droplets, due to imperfect thermic stabilisation inside the flexible hose. We would therefore advise that the first jet of steam is played onto an old cloth until a constant steam flow is obtained. Note: The steam pressure indicator (D) may go on and off from time to time during use of Vaporetto, this is quite normal VERY IMPORTANT WARNING: If you press the steam request lever (4) when the appliance is still under pressure, even if it is off and not connected to the wiring system, you may still experience steam escaping from the flexible hose. So when you switch off the appliance, before storing it, it is neccessary to press the lever (4) till the steam flow is exhausted. S T E A M R E G U L AT I O N F E AT U R E VAPORETTOs are equipped with a steam regulator control (M) (Fig. 5). You can increase the steam flow by turning the control in an anticlockwise direction. Here are some suggestions for the choice of steam flow level: · Strong steam: for encrusted dirt, stains, sanitising, grease. · Delicate steam: for vaporising plants and cleaning delicate fabrics, upholstery, wallpaper etc. ENGLISH 28 VAPORETTO COMFORT CONNECTION OF ACCESSORIES · To connect the extension tubes (7) to the grip, the large brush (8) and the lance (5), simply join them to one another until the accessory locking button (11) clicks into place (Fig. [. . . ] The small brush can be used for: · furnishing fabrics (after testing on invisible parts-see WARNINGS above at start of "TIPS FOR BETTER UNIT PERFORMANCE". DO NOT USE ON DRALON, VELVET OR OTHER SIMILAR PILE OR DELICATE SURFACES. · small window surfaces · tiles and other small surfaces To clean wood (doorposts, floors etc) do not point the steam directly but cover the big or small brush with a double-folded cotton cloth. For furniture cleaning direct the steam jet onto a dry cotton cloth, and then clean with the cloth. [. . . ]
