Note that although the opened front door is not shown in the illustrations, it is not possible to completely remove the front door. Turning the Power On/Off The CD/Receiver System's power supply can be switched on and off using the POWER button on the CD/ receiver or the STANDBY/ON button on the remote control. When the power is switched off, the back light of the display panel goes off before the power is shut off. Display panel Standby mode After the power is switched off, the CD/Receiver System enters Standby mode, during which a small amount of current continues to flow for faster power-on operation when the power is switched back on. The CD/receiver's STANDBY indicator is ON during Standby mode. When power is switched back on The settings at the time when the power was switched off are restored automatically. For example, if the CD/ Receiver System was being used for radio reception when it was switched off, the same radio station will be heard when the power is switched back on. Likewise, if you switched off the power while playing a CD or MD (playback-only MD or MD with erase-protected when the MD recorder (sold separately) is connected), the same playback function is resumed when you switch the power back on. STANDBY/ON button · ENERGY-SAVING DESIGN · This unit is designed to use minimal electricity when power is switched OFF (during Standby). · Regarding the value of the power consumption in standby mode, refer to "Specifications" on page 35. Setting the Time Example: To set the time to 7:15 AM The time (24-hour format) is indicated on the CD/receiver's display panel. If you press and hold the CANCEL button for at least three seconds, all selected tracks are cleared. The total programmed playing time is not displayed if it exceeds 256 minutes. MODE button 3 After selecting the last programmed ENTER button track, press the 38 button. When programmed play ends When programmed play of all selected tracks ends, playback resumes with the first programmed track. Any of the following actions will clear the programmed tracks Programmed play Play your favorite tracks in your favorite order with programmed play. A sequence of up to 32 tracks can be programmed, with tracks appearing more than once in the sequence, if you like. · Removing the CD · Pressing the MODE button to switch to another mode, such as repeat playback of one track · Switching to another audio source by pressing the SOURCE button Programmed play selections will not be cleared when the power is shut off, such as when the POWER button or STANDBY/ON button is pressed. To check programmed tracks During Stop mode, press the + button to display the track numbers of the programmed tracks in the programmed order. 1 During Stop mode, press the MODE button until "PROGRAM" appears in the display panel. Listening to the Radio 2 Use the + or ­ button to tune in a radio The radio is built into the CD unit. You can store tuning presets for your favorite radio stations. SOURCE button DISPLAY (MONO) button station (manual station selection). The radio reception frequency changes in 9-kHz (in Taiwanese and European models) or 10-kHz (in U. S. LISTENING TO MUSIC ENTER button MODE button If FM reception is too noisy Press the DISPLAY (MONO) button to switch between Monaural and Stereo modes. Check that "MONO" appears in the display panel. ENTER button FM/AM button + / ­ buttons MODE button This results in clearer (although monaural) reception. Otherwise, use the Auto Audio Select mode ("AUTO" appears in the display panel). Listening to the Radio When in this mode, Stereo mode is automatically set for stereo broadcasts and Mono mode is set for monaural broadcasts. 1 Press the FM/AM button on the remote control. Press this button to switch between FM (UKW) and AM (MW/LW) radio bands. Listening to the Radio Auto station search The auto station search function automatically searches for radio stations that have good reception. Presetting radio stations Preset your favorite radio stations in the CD/ receiver's memory. Up to 12 FM and 12 AM stations can be stored in memory. Press and hold the + or ­ button. Release the button once the frequency shown in the display panel starts changing. The auto search function will automatically stop at the next station that has good reception. Notes concerning auto station search · The auto search function may not operate correctly from 90 MHz to 108 MHz in the FM band, due to interference from TV signals.
