[. . . ] X With some types of disc, some songs, and even some karaoke discs, accurate vocal key detection may not be possible, making it hard to achieve high scores. On the other hand, if you do not sing when there is a vocal, you will not lose any points. X If you use SCORING or have COMPETITION with graphics compatible discs, graphics images and on-screen indications may overlap, depending on the disc. With LDs and CD-Gs, the karaoke bird characters, score and other indications are displayed in black and white. X If you are using a projection TV, avoid using SCORING and COMPETITION for extended periods of time. As you sing into the mic, your voice is compared with the vocal recorded on the disc. Accurate scoring is not possible with discs that do not feature a recorded vocal track. Enjoy the Scoring function(SCORING/COMPETITION) even with regular CDs (non-multiplex discs). Select the desired song number with the digit buttons and DISC SIDE A/B button (LDs only). After you have been singing for a minute or so, playback indications, the karaoke bird characters, and scores are displayed on the TV screen. Scores start from 5, 000, with 100 points added or subtracted at a time. With it switched ON, you can enjoy singing along with a professional singer. ¶ When you switch power to the unit ON, GUIDE MELODY switches ON. ¶ To switch GUIDE MELODY ON after it has been switched OFF, press the GUIDE MELODY button once more. ¶ With discs that do not feature a separately recorded guide melody, the GUIDE MELODY cannot be switched ON/OFF. When watching this kind of DVD on a conventional TV, the picture may appear vertically squeezed. If this occurs, you can use the Multi-Aspect function to achieve a normal picture. With DVDs that enable switching between different aspect ratios, select the appropriate setting for your TV. X If there is a power outage or the power cord is disconnected while power to the player is ON, memorized settings are erased. When disconnecting the power cord, be sure to press POWER button on the main unit and the remote control until "-- OFF --" is no longer indicated in the display. Selecting in the chart above assures correct aspect ratio for the TV used. With disc not enabling aspect ratio changing, make adjustments with the TV. [. . . ] The subtitle function can be used to select the language of your choice. Regional restriction codes (region number) Regional restriction codes are built-in to DVD players and DVD discs for each sales region. If the regional code of the DVD player does not match one of the regional codes of the DVD disc, playback will not be possible.
