Please read through these operating instructions so you will know how to operate your model properly. After you have finished reading the instructions, put them away in a safe place for future reference. IMPORTANT CAUTION RISK OF ELECTRIC SHOCK DO NOT OPEN The lightning flash with arrowhead symbol, within an equilateral triangle, is intended to alert the user to the presence of uninsulated "dangerous voltage" within the product's enclosure that may be of sufficient magnitude to constitute a risk of electric shock to persons. [. . . ] Important · You can't use Program play with VR format DVD-R/-RW discs, Video CD/Super VCDs playing in PBC mode, MP3/WMA/ MPEG-4 AAC discs, DivX video/WMV discs, or while a DVD disc menu is being displayed. 30 En Playing discs 1 Press PLAY MODE and select `Program' from the list of functions on the left. Play Mode 05 5 To play the program list, press (play). Program play remains active until you turn off program play (see below), erase the program list (see below), eject the disc or switch off the player. After pressing ENTER to select the title/ chapter/group/track, the step number automatically moves down one. · You can insert steps into the middle of a program list by just highlighting the position where you want the new step to appear and entering a title/chapter/group/ track number. · To delete a step, highlight it and press CLEAR. 31 En 05 Playing discs Searching a disc You can search DVD-Video discs by title or chapter number, or by time; DVD-Audio discs can be searched by group or track number; SACDs by track number, CDs and Video CD/ Super VCDs by track number or time; DivX video /WMV discs by time, and some DivX media files by chapter number. Important · Search functions are not available with Video CD/Super VCDs in PBC mode, or with MP3/WMA/MPEG-4 AAC discs. 1 Press PLAY MODE and select `Search Mode' from the list of functions on the left. 3 Use the number buttons to enter a title, chapter or track number, or a time. Play Mode A-B Repeat Repeat Random Program Search Mode Title Search Chapter Search Time Search Switching subtitles Some DVD-Video and DivX video discs have subtitles in one or more languages; the disc box will usually tell you which subtitle languages are available. 1 Press SUBTITLE repeatedly to select a subtitle option. Current / Total Subtitle 1/ 2 English Note · Some discs only allow you to change subtitle language from the disc menu. · To set subtitle preferences, see Subtitle Language on page 41. · See Displaying external subtitle files on page 9 for more on DivX subtitles. Input Chapter 001 · For a time search, enter the number of minutes and seconds into the currently playing title (DVD/ DivX video/WMV) or track (CD/Video CD/Super VCD) you want playback to resume from. For example, press 4, 5, 0, 0 to have playback start from 45 minutes into the disc. 4 Press ENTER to start playback. 32 En Playing discs Switching audio language/ channels When playing a DVD-Video and DivX video disc recorded with dialog in two or more languages, you can switch audio language during playback. When playing a VR format DVD-R/-RW disc recorded with dual-mono audio, you can switch between the main, sub, and mixed channels during playback. When playing a DVD-Audio disc, you may be able to switch channels--see the disc box for details. [. . . ] MPEG audio Packed PCM (DVD-Audio only) PBC (PlayBack Control) PCM (Pulse Code Modulation) An audio format used on Video CD/ Super VCDs and some DVD discs. A lossless compression system that enables more PCM audio to be stored on a DVD-Audio disc than would otherwise be possible. A system of navigating a Video CD/ Super VCD through on-screen menus recorded onto the disc. Good quality, but requires a lot of data compared to Dolby Digital, DTS and MPEG encoded audio. [. . . ]
