Optionally some RAW files also contain higher resolution JPEG preview images. These can be of any size up to full resolution. 100 % 200 % 300 % 400 % Max Use Softkey 1 : for normal viewing. When viewing 100% the joystick can be used to switch to the previous or next picture. This is convenient if you intend to use the zoom function on subsequent pictures. Due to the fact that there is no picture buffering in this mode, viewing will be slower than in the normal View Pictures mode. Press `Back' if you want to view other pictures without zooming Softkey 2 : for 200% view Softkey 3 : for 300 % view Softkey 4 : for 400 % view Softkey 5 : for Max zoom. If this mode is available it will decode the file at its maximum resolution. One pixel on the screen will correspond with one pixel in the photo JPEG file 160 * 120 pixel JPEG preview EXIF info Full resolution JPEG data RAW file 160 * 120 pixel JPEG preview Zoom options High resolution JPEG preview (optional) Option 1: Use JPEG preview Zoom Max Full resolution RAW data Option 2 : Use Raw data When viewing RAW files in normal picture viewing mode, GigaVu will scan the file for JPEG preview images. When Zooming you have, as stated above, two options: 100 % 200 % 300 % 400 % Max You can either press the joystick (enter) or the `Back" button to leave the zoom mode and go back to standard picture viewing Option 1: Use JPEG preview. In this case GigaVu will, as most other image viewers do, use the largest JPEG preview image available. When using Zoom MAX, one pixel on the screen will correspond with one pixel in the JPEG preview image. This means that zooming is limited to the size of the preview image which can be much less than the camera's 12 resolution. This mode is available for a large group of cameras including many models of Canon, Kodak, Nikon, Minolta, Olympus, Pentax, Sigma, and Sony. Option 2: Use Raw Data In this case GigaVu will use the full resolution RAW data to generate an image. Since RAW file decoding is very computation intensive this may take somewhere between 30 seconds and up to a few minutes. In order to avoid accidental use of this function, the 100% zoom setting will always be used as a starting point, regardless of what was entered in the default zoom setting. With this option Zoom Max will decode the picture in the camera's native resolution. Currently this mode is only available for certain Canon, Kodak and Nikon cameras. RAW decoders running on personal computers offer a large amount of customization. Users can tweak parameters such as white balance, exposure, sharpening etc . to obtain the picture quality they want. Cameras use a specific setting for these parameters when they generate an embedded JPEG preview image. [. . . ] These will serve as default settings when you access the Photo>Mange>Add Comments To Pictures dialog. 25 Owner Info Name e - mail Cell Phone Author Name Copyright To upgrade GigaVu do the following: - visit the Jobo website : www. jobo. com - go to the download section - download the latest version of the software on your computer - un-zip the downloaded file - goto Home>Device>USB Connect To PC - press the joystick to confirm - connect the USB cable to your PC - copy the files to the root directory of GigaVu - Switch off GigaVu - Switch GigaVu back on A message will appear indicating GigaVu is upgrading its software.
