Detailed instructions for use are in the User's Guide.

[. . . ] Electrical Safety (1) Double Insulated tools are equipped with a polarized plug (one blade is wider than the other. Double Insulation eliminates the need for the three wire grounded power cord and grounded power supply system. (2) Avoid body contact with grounded surfaces such as pipes, radiators, ranges and refrigerators. There is an increased risk of electric shock if your body is grounded. [. . . ] Accessories that may be suitable for one tool, may become hazardous when used with another tool. Service (1) Tool service must be performed only by a HITACHI authorized service center. Service or maintenance performed by unqualified personnel could result in a risk of injury. Use of unauthorized parts or failure to follow Maintenance Instruction may create a risk of electric shock or injury. Hold tools by insulated gripping surfaces when performing an operation where the cutting tool may contact hidden wiring or its own cord. Contact with a "live" wire will make exposed metal parts of the tool "live" and shock the operator. NEVER wear gloves made of stuff liable to roll up such as cotton, wool, cloth or string, etc. NEVER place your hands, fingers or other body parts near the tool's moving parts. NEVER operate this tool without all guards or safety features in place and in proper working order. If maintenance or servicing requires the removal of a guard or safety feature, be sure to replace the guard or safety feature before resuming operation of the tool. Don't force small tool or attachment to do the job of a heavy-duty tool. Ensure that the power source to be utilized conforms to the power source requirements specified on the product nameplate. If the plug is connected to a receptacle while the switch is in the ON position, the power tool will start operating immediately and can cause serious injury. When the work area is far away from the power source, use an extension cord of sufficient thickness and rated capacity. If the receptacle only loosely accepts the plug, the receptacle must be repaired. If such a fautly receptacle is used, it may cause overheating, resulting in a serious hazard. (2) Place the chuck wrench in each of the three holes in the chuck, and turn it in the clockwise direction (viewed from the front side). (3) To remove the bit, place the chuck wrench into one of the holes in the chuck and turn it in the counterclockwise direction. (4) If it is hard to loosen the sleeve, fix the spindle using the open-end wrench, hold the sleeve firmly, and turn it in the loosening direction (counterclockwise when viewed from the front). To open the chuck jaws, hold the ring while turning the sleeve in the counterclockwise direction (viewed from the front side). (except D10VF) It can be installed on either side of the tool for right or left handed use. The bit rotates clockwise (viewed from the rear side) by pushing the R-side of the push button. [. . . ] CAUTION: When the power tool is used with a hook fixed to it, pay attention to the following points: Before hanging the main unit from the waist belt, make sure that the drill has come to a complete stop. Be sure to switch power OFF and disconnect the plug from the receptacle during maintenance and inspection. Since use of a dull tool will cause motor malfunctioning and degraded efficiency, replace the drill bit with a new one or resharpening without delay when abrasion is noted. When not in use, the Power tool should be kept in a dry place out of the reach of children. [. . . ]
