[. . . ] 3-7. 1 Creating and Using a Recovery CD/DVD A Recovery CD /DVD contains the image of your selected partition and can be used to auto-restore your system if your hard drive crashes. Store the backup in a safe location and you will be able to restore your system in no time, with just a few clicks of the mouse. Select Advanced Functions from the RestoreIT Pro main interface, and then click Recovery CD/DVD. RestoreIT Pro should prompt you to restart computer to create the Recovery CD/DVD in Pre-OS Mode. Note: If the box "Don't build Complete Backup Point into the CD/DVD" is checked in this step, you will create only a bootable CD/DVD. Upon a system crash, you can use this disc to boot your computer and then select a disk image from a different location (eg. another hard drive, another computer on the network or CD/DVD disc) to restore your system. In Pre-OS Mode, select the Source hard drive in the upper pane, and then select the Source Partition(s) you want to back up in the lower pane. RestoreIT Pro will automatically eject the disc after burning succeeds. Note: if the image file is larger that a single CD/DVD the original disc will be ejected and you will need to insert another blank disc to continue. Using Recovery CD/DVD to restore your computer To restore your system from a Recovery CD/DVD, simply insert the Recovery CD/DVD disc into the CD/DVD-ROM and reboot your computer. Note: Make sure you have set Boot from CD-ROM option in the motherboard BIOS settings. If you have modified the disk structure after you have created the disc or your hard drive has physically crashed, it cannot perform an auto-recovery and will boot into RestoreIT Pro Pre-OS Mode. You can then select a disk image to perform a restoration to an earlier state. 3-7. 2 How to Restore Individual Files from an External Complete Backup If you need to restore an individual file or folder from an External Complete Backup or a hard drive image, simply pick out the file or folder from the preview option and you can restore the selected files without restoring the whole partition/disk. Just mount the image file as a temporary partition and copy the file or folder needed. mount an External Complete Backup as a partition Select Advanced Functions and then click Mount Image. Select the partition containing the file or folder you wish to restore, and select a drive to mount. (Drive U: in this case) Now you can browse the drive and copy the desired file or folder to your specified location. After you have finished restoring an individual file or folder, you can dismount the temporary partition. Select Advanced Functions from the RestoreIT Pro main interfaced and then Mount Image. 3-8 RestoreIT Pro Settings RestoreIT Pro settings allow you to modify general settings, backup/restore schedules and file level backup settings.
