We design and manufacture consumer products with the safety of you, our valued customer, foremost in mind. In addition we ask that you exercise a degree of care when using any electrical appliance and adhere to the following precautions: · Regularly inspect the power supply cord, plug and actual appliance for any damage. If found damaged in any way, immediately cease use of the appliance and return unit to the nearest authorised Breville centre for examination, replacement or repair. [. . . ] · Ensure that bread to be toasted is the correct size for the toaster and does not protrude above the bread slice opening and is not too thick or long that it will jam or wedge the bread carriage. · Never cover the appliance whilst it is plugged into the mains or while hot. · Do not place cold toast on top of toasting slots to warm toast as this may prevent correct air circulation and damage the appliance. · The installation of a residual current device (safety switch) is recommended to provide additional safety protection when using electrical appliances. It is advisable that a safety switch with a rated residual operating current not exceeding 30mA be installed in the electrical circuit supplying the appliance. See your electrician for professional advice. Note NEVER OPERATE TOASTER ON ITS SIDE. NEVER ADD ANY FOOD SUBSTANCE TO THE BREAD, MUFFINS OR CRUMPETS AS THIS CAN LEAD TO ELECTROCUTION OR FIRE. PLACING OTHER ITEMS IN THE TOASTER CAN LEAD TO ELECTROCUTION OR FIRE. 5 4 Know your Breville Ikon Toaster Operating your Breville Ikon Toaster · Before first use, remove any promotional material attached to your toaster. · The Breville Ikon Toaster has a `Lift and Look' feature which does not interrupt the cooking cycle. To check on the toasting progression during the cooking cycle, simply use the high lift lever to raise and lower toast. · The toaster turns off when the desired toast colour is achieved and automatically raises the toast. The toasting process can be stopped at any time by pressing the `Cancel' button located on the side of the toaster. When the toasting cycle is complete, the toaster will `beep' to indicate that the toast is ready. No need to wait while the toast cooks. Reheat setting Defrost setting Electronic browning control dail Extra wide and deep slots Self centring toasting slots · Insert the power plug into a 230/240 volt power outlet and then turn the power on. · Place up to 2 slices of bread, muffins or bagels into the bread slots. · Select the desired browning setting using the browning control dial. · When using the toaster for the first time, we suggest you toast on setting No. Varying types of bread and personal preference may require a different browning setting, eg: raisin toast and white light-textured breads may require a lower setting, whilst heavier textured rye breads may require a darker setting. [. . . ] The light will illuminate behind the reheat button when selected. Storage Always switch off, then unplug from mains and allow to cool completely before storing. Toasting crumpets This function adjusts heating elements to perfectly toast golden crumpets without burning the bottom. To toast crumpets, place crumpets into toasting slots with the tops facing inwards toward the middle of the toaster. Lower the high lift lever until it clicks into place and press the crumpet setting. This setting when activated adjusts the heating elements to produce additional heat to the centre elements to cook the top of your crumpet faster than the bottom. [. . . ]
